Rotary believes in education!  We also believe it's okay to have a great time getting one!  So Rotary offers a variety of ways to help students expand thier minds and their life experiences.

High School Students

Spending time abroad as an exchange student is one of the most unique opportunities available to you.  You will be in for an experience that will affect the rest of your life.  Your exchange will encompass different phases that will give you opportunities to grow in new ways and experience a new culture and ideas.

The purpose of the Rotary Youth Exchange program is to provide high school juniors with the opportunity to travel aborad, live with a host family, and experience life firsthand in a different country, school, and social environment.  Exchange students will gain lifelong advantages through an expanded world view and greater appreciation of the world.

When you participate in Rotary's long-term Youth Exchange programs, you'll learn a new way of living, a great deal about yourself, and maybe even a new language.  You'll be an ambassador, teaching people you meet about your country, culture, and ideas.  You can help bring the world closer - and make some good friends in the process.

More than 8,000 young people each year have experience like these through Rotary Youth Exchange.  It's the opportunity of a lifetime.  Are you ready for it?

To learn more about how you can either study abroad or host a student in your home, please contact the District Youth Exchange Chair, Joe Mitchell.

College Students

College students looking to study abroad for a year or just a semester can apply to become an Ambassadorial Scholar.  Rotary of Central Indiana annually invites outstanding candidates to apply for a Rotary academic year. At least one scholarship for international study at the advanced undergraduate or graduate level, valued at up to $23,000, has been awarded each year by our district.

Interested parties are urged to carefully review scholarship criteria and requirements. Awards given by Rotary District 6560 are open only to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who reside or are students in the geographical limits of Rotary District 6560 in central Indiana.  Family members of Rotarians are not eligiable.

Ambassadorial Scholars are expected not only to be outstanding scholars but enthusiastic ambassadors for Rotary, giving presentations to Rotarians while abroad and after returning home.

The nominations process begins with an endorsement by one of the 45 Rotary clubs in central Indiana.

Information about the scholarships and the application process will be available and sent to club presidents in January. Clubs should recruit qualified applicants and submit applications in the Spring. Interviews are traditionally scheduled for late April or early May.
